Simply put, yes, you can say goodbye to electric bills! And you can do this by harnessing renewable energies. Using the power of the sun, also known as solar power is one of the most potent and reliable source of renewable energy. Despite the fact that solar energy is easily available, not so many people are utilizing the power of the sun to reduce their power bills. The main reason: the cost of professionally installed solar power systems is excessive that the return on investing one will take well over 10 years. For most people, the investment on costly solar power systems are stifling and just too much.

The next logical question: Is there an alternative to these costly and expensive solar power systems? Yes! In fact, an average-person, with average do-it-yourself skills can actually build solar panel(s) that converts solar energy into electricity. There’s no need of professional installers anymore. And if you know where to find the components, you’ll be on your way to great savings on your electricity bills.

Building your own solar panel will just take a couple of hours at best, maybe a day at worst. But there’s really nothing to worry; with easy-to-understand and complete step-by-step instructions, building solar panel(s) will be effortless. As with the parts and components, most of the supplies needed to build your own solar panels are readily available at local hardware stores. You can also buy solar panel kits from suppliers – on the Internet or offline. The kit has all the parts needed to generate your own energy from the sun. A novice can start small – constructing several small solar panels to power small appliances. A determined energy-saver can build solar panels servicing the entire home, office or community.

The Internet is awash with information, resources and guides to build your own solar panel. Some are rip-offs and scams offering gibberish trash, while others are truly a gold mine offering quality and detailed instructions that save you tons of money. These reputable guides also provide the list of supplies needed for the solar panel project, which you can bring to your local hardware store.

Building your own solar panel will not only save you money, you’ll also help the environment as well. By harnessing the power of the sun – the most potent source of renewable energy – and converting its energy into electricity, you’re actually declaring independence from fossil fuels.

If you’re thinking of installing your own solar panel, now is the time to act! You don’t have to invest huge amount of money to start now. In fact, with as little as $200, you’ll be on your way to electricity bills independence. In today’s economy, every dollar counts. Imagine yourself not paying your monthly electricity bills. How will that benefit you? Build your own solar panel(s) and start your savings today!

For your convenience, we’ve conducted a thorough investigation and review of all available resources and guides to build your own solar panel. Our product review pages provide you with four of today’s most complete and well-documented information on building your own solar panel.

As you can probably tell I shop online a lot, shopping online is extremely convenient for me and millions of others and if done correctly can save money. The main reason why shopping online is cheaper is because the stores overheads are lower than that in a retail outlet so they can afford to sell the products at a lower rate. But you will also save money on Parking, gas and most importantly your time, studies show the time it takes you to find a product you want to buy online is much less than in a store. Even with the possibility of paying for shipping when purchasing online, you will still most likely save money. But for unseasoned online shoppers it is a whole new world and you have to learn the best way to save money, I thought I would share a few tricks (well in fact 3 in this post) and tips here to help you save money on every online purchase.

1. Try to shop at Auction sites like eBay

The nature of an auction fits really well into buying products online, even if you are not looking for something less popular like a 4 person canoe, you can still find a bargain. There are many auction websites now popular; eBay, Yahoo Auctions, Online Auction.com and uBid to name a few, just make sure the site is not a new and is a trusted one and be careful, there are some scammers out there, if it is too good to be true it probably is, and make sure you look at the rating of the seller before you buy, it’s in the best interest of online auction sites to make you feel safe and not get scammed, so learn how to rate a seller (it should be self evident with a star system or something similar).

Another method is to shop at overstock stores that will carry surplus and returned goods, there are some massive savings to be had with this avenue. Overstock.com is the most popular of the overstock sites. They specialize in just about anything your mind can come up with. Try this out, type in a search engine whatever product you are looking for then the word overstock and I bet you find some good quality overstock sites matching the products you are looking for.

2. Try looking for online sales

Now this is a quick and easy one, shop somewhere that is having a sale, easier said than done? Your right, if you were walking down the high street you would quickly notice if a store has a sale (owing to the flyers and window dressings) but how do you find out what online stores are having a sale? Well this is where coupons sites come in handy, they try to list sales as soon as they know about them. Have a list of your top coupon sites handy when you feel like shopping.

For those of you that don’t understand what an online sale is I will explain this briefly here. Just like walking into your local store visiting an online store you will be hit by the sales literature and images, in other words they will be clearly displayed on the homepage (unless the offer is exclusive to a site). The most popular type of sales are seasonal to get rid of their current stock to make way for new stock, so the end of every season usually sees a flood of offers and some real bargains can be had.

See if it is cheaper to buy in bulk, as shipping and handling can be costly, especially in big countries like Canada, it often makes sense to buy more ‘fast moving consumer good’ (the ones you use often) as it brings the cost of shipping down, and if you take a moment to read the stores T&C’s you may find that if you purchase a certain amount the store will waive the shipping charges completely.

3. Coupon Codes and Voucher Codes

This is one of online shopping’s best kept secrets. Promotional codes and really anything ending in codes (as they nearly always mean the same thing) are codes that online stores give out to website owners that allow consumers to save money through online shopping discounts, free gifts, free shipping, money off, percentage off, free samples, contests the list goes on. Have you ever bought something online and seen a box at the end of your checkout that saying something like ‘enter your promotional code here’? This is where your brain should show a little light bulb over your head to say “go get a promotional code”. Of course the problem lies in where to find these much coveted coupon codes, try searching in a search engine for coupon codes or Voucher Codes.

Sites that focus around offering these codes are extremely time consuming to maintain as they have to constantly keep going back to the posts to update the coupons or remove them. But hopefully the sites are being constantly updated with new codes so you will have the best deals available at your finger tips every day. Please remember that coupon codes only have a limited shelf life, some for a few days others for a few hours so make sure you read the details correctly. So how to be updated, well there are a few ways, you can bookmark a site, your browser should have a live bookmarks section, or click on the RSS (orange) symbol at the top of most sites and you can see in your live bookmarks every time a new coupon has been added. You can also subscribe to an email newsletter at a coupon site, which will update you when the coupons are listed or about to expire.

Hopefully this post will help you save money when shopping online

Fact: Healthcare costs including drugs continue to rise every year. This has tremendously affected most Americans. Add to the fact that we are on a recession, and the impact of these rising costs on families everywhere are very unfortunate.

Below are some smart strategies that you can use and implement to save on drugs.

Talk with your doctor. During your doctor’s appointment, raise your concerns pertaining to the rising costs of prescription drugs. Do not hesistate to discuss this matter with your doctor. If you don’t bring up these concerns, your doctor may assume that prescription cost is not a factor to you.

Ask and be enlightened. Know why your doctor is prescribing that specific drug. Also ask if the drug is FDA-approved, for your specific condition. Sometimes, doctors will just prescribed drugs that you don’t really need or not certified by the FDA to benefit your specific condition. Research on evidences that the prescribed drug works in your case.

Beware of drug ads. Advertisements are helpful in telling you the drugs available in the market. However, don’t be easily persuade to try newer drugs. Just because the drug is new doesn’t always mean that it has huge advancement over existing medications. And because advertisments incur costs, most likely, these drugs are more costly.

Value of free samples. They are provided to doctors as part of drug companies’ marketing efforts to entice usage by you. But remember that they may or may not be the best or most effective drug for what ails you.

Buying generics via internet. The value of non-US Internet pharmacy lies in brand-name drugs–because they are often cheaper in Canadian and European-based sites. However, for generic drugs, US sites provide the cheaper choice.

Know your supplements. Supplements may or may not interact with other drugs. Some ingredients in supplements may harm you especially if you have certain conditions. Remember that supplements are usually not FDA-approved, so their claims are not substantiated.

Splitting of Pills. Skimp on the dose? Never! But by requesting your doctor to prescribe pills that are twice the dose you need, and then cut them in half using a pill splitter can actually save you some money.

New versus older drugs. Low-cost generics which are usually older drugs are as good as, or better than, the newer and more expensive ones coming to the market. There have been plenty of evidence coming out lately proving this point.

Store-brand versus name-brand. When buying over-the-counter medications, choose store-branded medications (such as Equate, Walgreens or CVS) over name-branded counterparts. The truth is, they contain the same active ingredients that can cure whatever ails you, but their price difference is substantial. Store-branded medicines are usually placed beside the name-brands. Just check the labels to make sure of the active ingredients.

For many people, even those with good spending habits, creating and sticking to a budget may seem like a significant challenge. Learning to budget wisely, however, isn’t just a tool for getting by from month to month. Good budgeting is the first step towards financial stability, both now and in the future.

Before getting started, it’s important to recognize that creating a personal budget can seem overwhelming. Coming up with an effective plan requires taking a clear, serious look at your existing financial situation. Skipping or glossing over this step may be tempting, but this choice most often leads to budgets that are just ineffective. When it comes to sticking to a budget, life inevitably gets in the way, and when an unexpected expense arises budgets can quickly lose priority. This ultimately defeats the purpose of a good, workable budget; leading to overspending that lays the groundwork for future financial difficulties.

Creating an effective budget doesn’t have to be difficult. The key, as in most every worthwhile endeavor, is proper planning. After putting a good budget in place, the next step is committing to reach clear, realistic budget goals. Here are a few tips for getting started

Determine Where You Stand

For most people, with the arrival of each month comes the arrival of expenses. Start by listing all regular, predictable monthly expenses. Examples of predictable monthly expenses include mortgages and car payments. For expenses that may vary throughout the year, like utility bills, groceries, and fuel costs, make a close estimate of the typical amount spent.

After listing all expenses, compare that amount to the household monthly income.

Expenses should not outweigh income. If that’s the case, take a close look at all monthly expenses to see where spending can be reduced in any category. Even when income exceeds expenses, taking time to consider where spending can be cut to free up funds for savings and investments in the future.

Adjust Your Spending

After determining where the overspending happens, it’s time to adjust spending habits. This may seem challenging at first, but finding viable ways to reduce spending is the most important step in the budgeting process. Consider investing at least 10% of each paycheck in savings as an important long-term goal.

Get Everyone Involved

When creating a budget for an entire household, getting everyone in that household involved in the process substantially increases the odds for success. Involving spouses and children helps everyone feel more in control and may reduce future conflicts over spending choices. Plus, it’s never too early to educate children about the power of good money habits.

Take Time to Keep Track

Make a weekly appointment to review budget goals and to adjust spending accordingly. Keeping this appointment is crucial to success, so find way to make the experience as pleasant as possible. Be sure to share these findings with all members of the household.

Don’t Forget Fun

While the initial effect of a budget may be that money for fun seems to disappear, good budgeting can eventually re-open that door. Proper financial management reduces wasteful spending, but it also increases financial organization. Eliminating overdrafts and late fees, frees up household funds for the occasional splurge. Good budgeting can’t be successful if everyone involved always feels deprived.
